It’s arguable that the camming community is one of the strongest there is. Although those who cam technically work solo, they’re hardly alone. In these strange times, the importance of community and friendships is as important as ever, and here at Off The Record Models, we wanted to share our thoughts on why the community that comes with being a cam model is a positive and empowering force to be reckoned with.
Feminist Revolution
Nothing is more feminist than becoming a cam girl. Unlike any other career, webcam models actively stand up for women by showing control of not only their choices, but bodies. Being a cam model will undisputedly create a sense of empowerment in many aspects of your life. Not only does financial independence play a huge part in this career path, but you can set the bar as high as you want. You work on your own terms, choosing whom you work with and where. Liberating right?
Lets Hear It For the Girls
There is a common misconception that women who choose this career path aren’t ‘clever’ or must be ‘unhappy’; this could not be further from the truth. From our experience, performers come from many different walks of life. From doctorate graduates, to parents who want to earn a little extra income; being a cam model offers support and self-sufficiency to all.
Being a Cam Model and Body Confidence
We’d also like to discuss the myth that being a cam model means you have to look a certain way. This is definitely not the case at all. Frankly, if everyone looked the same, the world would be a pretty boring place!
We love all shapes and sizes; individuality and creativity are what it’s all about. There is a market for everything nowadays and we want you to promote yourself in a way that excites you. Feeling comfortable and confident will build self-esteem and result in a higher job satisfaction.
That’s What Friends Are For
There are few things more satisfying than the bonds of sisterhood. If being a cam model is new to you, then you may not have experienced this vibrant sense of community before. As experienced cam models ourselves, at Off The Record Models, we encourage connecting with other girls and of course, our support team! Whether it’s exchanging tips or asking for advice, we’re advocates for building each other up and increasing confidence.
Outside of our circle, many girls are part of online forums in which they are able to share stories, pictures and write blogs to inform and entertain others in the same industry. Having that platform and community can also help to encourage and grow your aspirations.
